To mark the completion of the Virgin River South Trail — a project that not only provides a scenic route for walking, biking, and enjoying nature but will serve as a vital link in connecting our communities — the City of St. George will host a grand opening and community bike ride, October 22 at noon at Crosby Family Confluence Park.

Following the ceremony, all are welcomed on a community bike ride along the new trail. Light refreshments will be available while supplies last.

“The Virgin River South Trail is a fantastic addition to our community, giving us a total of 72 miles of paved trails in our city,” said Shane Moore, Parks and Community Services Director for the City of St. George. “In addition to providing new recreational opportunities, it strengthens connections between our parks and neighborhoods.”

The Virgin River South Trail continues the work that began with the Virgin River North Trail, which was completed in 2020. The North Trail has become a popular route for residents and visitors alike, offering a picturesque path along the river with easy access to several parks. Together, the North and South trails form an extensive network that boosts the city’s trail system, creating a seamless connection between parks, neighborhoods, and key community spaces.

“We wanted to incorporate the tradition of cutting a ribbon but take it up a notch and cut a bicycle tube in honor of this accomplishment,” Moore added. “We encourage everyone to join us in experiencing the Virgin River South Trail while enjoying the surrounding nature. By doing so, you’ll get a great understanding of why the City of St. George is The Brighter Side.”
